Please follow the below instructions to begin playing FINAL FANTASY XIV.

1. Install the FINAL FANTASY XIV software.
2. Create a Square Enix account if you do not already have one.
3. Log in using your Square Enix account and create a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account.
Acquiring a Square Enix Account
To play FINAL FANTASY XIV, you will need a Square Enix account. To create one, click the "Don’t have a Square Enix account?" option from the login screen and follow the instructions provided.
If you are not currently running FINAL FANTASY XIV, you may also obtain an account directly from the Square Enix Account Management System. Click the “Don’t have a Square Enix account?" option beneath the login window and follow the instructions provided. A valid email address will be required.
In some instances, Square Enix accounts may not be created for cellular phone or PlayOnline mail addresses.
What is a SQUARE ENIX ACCOUNT?
A Square Enix account is a free service provided for authenticating online services. If you already have a Square Enix account, you will not need to acquire another one. Please use the Square Enix account you already have.
For Square Enix Account Holders
Please log in with your Square Enix ID and Square Enix password.
Customers using security tokens are also required to enter a one-time password.
When logging in to your Square Enix account, you may be asked to enter additional customer information. Please follow the on-screen instructions while entering the data.

Account Registration for Minors
Minors are required to obtain a parent or guardian’s consent before registering a Square Enix account. Please note that accounts should be registered in the player’s name, and not the name of the parent or guardian.

Passwords can be reset at the URL below.
To reset your password, you will need to know the security question and answer you entered when obtaining your Square Enix account.

Security Tokens
A security token is a device that produces a constantly changing one-time password that can be displayed on-screen with the push of a button. Because the device is completely detached from any hardware requiring user authentication, it provides vastly improved security to the user.
One-time Passwords
A one-time password differs from a typical ID or password in that it is a 6-digit numeric code that is produced and displayed on the security token’s screen each time the token’s button is pushed.
One-time passwords are very effective against spyware such as key loggers in that they are only valid for a set period of time and become invalid after they have been used once.
Security tokens may be purchased through the Square Enix Account Management System.
Acquiring a Service Account
To play FINAL FANTASY XIV, you will need to add a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account to your Square Enix account according to the steps outlined below. To do so, you will need a FINAL FANTASY XIV registration code.

Service Accounts
A service account is an account that is created and upgraded through registration codes, and is associated with a specific service. A maximum of eight FINAL FANTASY XIV service accounts can be added to a single Square Enix account.

Registration Codes
A registration code is a 20-character code that is used to enable a service. Registration codes cannot be reissued, so please store yours in a safe place.
1. Log in using the Square Enix account for which you wish to register a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account. Choose Select Service.
2. The FINAL FANTASY XIV service account top page will be displayed. Select Add a service account.
3. Enter the FINAL FANTASY XIV registration code printed on the back cover of your game manual.
4. You have successfully added a FINAL FANTASY XIV service account.
Additional Service Accounts
A maximum of eight FINAL FANTASY XIV service accounts can be added to a single Square Enix account. To add another service account, you will need to have an unused registration code and follow the steps outlined in Adding a Service Account.
Playing on Different Platforms
If you would like to play FINAL FANTASY XIV on different platforms using the same account, you will need to add a registration code for the platform on which you would like to play the game.
Select Add a service account from the service account top page, enter your registration code, and then select the service account to which you would like to add the platform.
Cancelling and Reactivating Service Accounts
You will no longer be able to use a service account after it has been cancelled. However, even if you’ve cancelled your service account, you will still be able to use any Options added to the account until their expiration date. In order to use the service account again, it must first be reactivated.
Actions such as the cancelling or reactivation of Options that have been added to a service account can be performed from the Options List, which is accessible from the service account top page. For details regarding Options, refer to the section on Adding Options.
